On Thursday, President Donald Trump dialed back on his tweetstorms to bizarrely share a video of his previous life as a reality star.
The footage, which came from the 2006 Emmy Awards, sees Trump in overalls and a straw hat, along with Megan Mullally from Will & Grace. The duo had reenacted the theme song for 1960s sitcom Green Acres, which circled a New York transplant who forwent everything to run his own farm.
Showing that things have come full circle, the video of him in a skit where he played a farmer was reposted to prelude a farm bill he was going to sign that afternoon.
The tweet was apparently sent out 15 minutes before Trump was poised to sign the US$867 billion Agriculture Improvement Act, a bill that offers farm subsidies and assistance to people struggling to afford food. It’s possible that White House social media director Dan Scavino was the one who posted the video, as he occasionally tweets using Trump’s account.
