It’s not just the crazy effects and blink-and-you’ll-miss-them action scenes that have people hooked on superhero films. Character development is also key; superheroes and villains are known to be erratic, playful, and a tad wicked at times. They sometimes also have a god complex.

Who else possesses these traits? That’s right, cats.

Bringing more a-mews-ment to your favorite personalities is Indonesian digital illustrator Fajareka Setiawan, who has transformed Marvel and DC characters into felines in his ‘Catvengers’ series.

Setiawan, who heads the illustration team at Polar Engine in Jogja, Java, has somehow reimagined the attributes of the original heroes and characters to make them more cat-like in his drawings of Black Panther, Deadpool, Ant-Man, Venom, and Aquaman.

‘Catpool’, for instance, is aptly reading an issue of ‘Playcat’ magazine, which presumably contains photos of sex kittens. ‘AquaCat’ bravely hunts for food with its handy triton.

They may be adorable, but they sure aren’t pussies.

Have a look at Setiawan’s ‘Catvengers’ illustrations below, and enjoy more of his immersive character designs over at his ArtStation profile and Instagram.
