Good news for Stranger Things fans: unlike season two, the next installment of the sci-fi horror show won’t be released in the final quarter of the year. Netflix’s release of a new poster confirms it will debut on Independence Day instead.
The bad news? It seems like two of your favorite characters are in danger.
At first glance, your line of vision might be drawn to ‘Mike’ (Finn Wolfhard) and ‘Eleven’ (Millie Bobby Brown) in the artwork, both of whom shared a kiss at the end of season two. The pair is seen holding hands in the middle of the graphic.
However, eagle-eyed social media users have noticed that the poster, which shows its mainstays at a Fourth of July celebration, could be hiding some clues that suggest ‘Will’ (Noah Schnapp) and ‘Eleven’ will find themselves dreadfully entangled in the ‘Upside Down’ again.
In the artwork, ‘Eleven’ and ‘Will’ are seen averting their gazes to the camera while everyone else enjoys the fireworks in front of them.
One fan, ‘RebecaMacKinnon’, also suggests that the two—who were the most susceptible to being exposed to the ‘Upside Down’ in the previous seasons—are the only ones who can see what is really happening.
You can check out both the poster below. What other theories might you have in mind?

I have a Stranger Things theory that Will & Eleven know that the upside down is still an ongoing problem bc they’re the only two people looking back, spooked, behind them while everyone is distracted by looking at something else thanks for coming to my ted talk @strangerwriters
