McDonald’s Debuts Vegan ‘McNuggets’ So Nobody Can Say No To Nugs2 min read

For many, chicken nuggets are a comfort food that evokes delightful childhood memories, with McDonald’s ‘McNuggets’ arguably being the golden standard. Until now, though, people who have either converted to veganism or have been vegetarians all their lives might not have been able to share the fun.

Lucky vegan diners in Norway need not be deprived of this joy any longer. The fast food chain has just unleashed a meat-free remake of the classic ‘Chicken McNugget’ that, thankfully, does not taste like fake chicken.

The new ‘Vegetarnuggets comprise a visible mix of chickpeas, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, corn, and onion, so they’re in no way trying to be ‘Chicken McNuggets’.

Bringing another level of texture to the already chunky filling is a crunchy, golden-brown breading. Unlike the batter used in the original ‘McNugget’, this version has a bubbled exterior much like puffed rice.

A vegetarian ‘McFeast’ burger joins this launch, and entails a breaded bean-based patty with ‘McFeast’ sauce, cheese, ketchup, mustard, tomato, onion, lettuce and pickles in a sesame bun. Without the cheese slice, the sandwich is vegan.

The menu is currently available only in Norway. Here’s hoping it rolls out internationally, or at least makes a brief appearance in the menu of McDonald’s global outlet in Chicago.
