The bronze ‘Fearless Girl’ statue, which gained fame for staring down Wall Street’s ‘Charging Bull’, has found a new home outside the New York Stock Exchange.

The art piece first appeared in the city’s financial district on International Women’s Day in March 2017 to highlight the lack of females in financial institutions. Officials, however, have decided to move the statue to new location as the original spot raised traffic concerns on Broadway due to tourists visiting the site.

Executive vice-chair of the stock exchange Betty Liu welcomed ‘Fearless Girl’ to the New York Stock Exchange, amidst an audience comprising business partners and entrepreneurs, as part of the introduction ceremony.

The statue was originally commissioned by State Street Global Advisors—a Boston-based financial services company, which hopes to encourage more females to join leadership roles on corporate boards. It welcomed the statue with the tweet, “It’s time. Today #FearlessGirl arrives at her new home, the @NYSE. A bigger stage to create a bigger impact.”

‘Charging Bull’ will eventually join ‘Fearless Girl’ at the stock exchange, but details on the move are still scarce.
