Ready to restart your life on Mars?

According to Elon Musk, the trip could set you back for less than US$100,000. You can even return to Earth for free, should you change your mind about growing old on the Red Planet.

The SpaceX founder hopes to bring people to Mars for a “relatively cheap” price, depending on how many people wish to go.

Musk explained that the ticket price will be cheap enough for keen parties to relocate without having to break the bank. “Very dependent on volume, but I’m confident moving to Mars (return ticket is free) will one day cost less than US$500k and maybe even below US$100k,” he said. “Low enough that most people in advanced economies could sell their home on Earth and move to Mars if they want.”

He hopes those who are interested will one day make their way to the planet on SpaceX’s ‘Starship’ that is currently undergoing tests. Several Twitter users have shown interest in the project and asked Musk what they can do to support the development.

“The goodwill of the public is critical to Starship’s success,” he replied. Musk ensures that the public will be informed of any progress and setbacks that the company is facing, “but excitement is guaranteed.”
