It’s become a custom for Apple to tweak its logo design for special events such as store openings, and in this case, its first marketing promotion of 2019 for Japan.

The graphic design, shown above, sees a modified version of the Apple logo with the Japanese words “初売” that translates to “first sale.”

On 1 January, the tech behemoth initiated a one-day promotion where customers who purchased select iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Beats earphone models, either online or through Apple stores, would receive a gift card between JP¥3,000 (US$27.50) and JP¥24,000 (US$220) in value. Apple’s latest iPhone, iPad and Watch models were not included inside this promotion.

For instance, those who bought the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 7, or 7 Plus, would be eligible for a gift card with JP¥6,000 (US$55) in stored value. Those who purchased the MacBook Pro, MacBook, old MacBook Air, iMac, iMac Pro or Mac Pro would be entitled to a JP¥24,000 (US$220) gift card.

Not too bad a deal for the New Year.
