Photographer Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek has an altruistic wish for us in the new year. He wants us to lead happier lives—something that he’s helping us achieve with his quirky 2019 calendar. Called Better Living With Alpacas, the yearly calendar features a cast of the domesticated creatures as they enjoy the lap of luxury in opulent interior settings. Each month highlights a fluffy camelid experiencing the good life in stunning hotel suites and rooftop bars.

Koekkoek views alpacas as great inspirations for how we should approach life. “Alpacas are always positive and smile all day long,” he explains. “They transport their positive energy to others and make them feel better.” Koekkoek knows from first-hand experience. “When I first met them [the alpacas], I drove out from the city to meet up with them and was still stressed out from everyday work. But when I looked into their smiling faces, I felt a big relief and had to smile back at them.”
