Temple Hill UK’s George Berman Joins Philip Barantini’s It’s All Made Up

EXCLUSIVE: George Berman, the boss of Smile producer Temple Hill’s UK office, is moving to Adolescence director Philip Barantini’s It’s All Made Up Productions.

Berman has taken on the Head of Development role and will run development for the company co-run by Barantini with Boiling Point exec Samantha Beddoe.

Berman joined Temple Hill in 2019 as an assistant to executives John Fischer and Laura Quicksilver and just two years later returned to his hometown of London to launch the company’s UK office, where he spent the next four and a half years building a slate and working with network and studio partners including Amazon, Sony and Netflix. Credits include horror movie The Rule of Three starring Thomasin McKenzie and Katie Douglas, which he landed and developed in 2023.

It’s All Made Up, which has minority investment from Starstruck maker Avalon, co-produced the Boiling Point TV series and has offices in London and Liverpool. It recently landed the rights to adapt DJ Annie Mac’s second novel The Mess We’re In for the big screen. Barantini is coming off the back of the mega breakout success of Adolescence, which he directed via his unique, one-take style and is now Netflix’s second most-watched English language series of all time. Beddoe’s credits include Boiling Point and Netflix’s Accused.

Barantini and Beddoe said: “We couldn’t be happier to welcome George to the team. His knowledge, taste, and relationships across the board in both film and TV are impeccable.”

Berman added: “After a wonderful six years at Temple Hill, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining Phil, Sam, and the rest of the team at It’s All Made Up. Needless to say, I’ve been a huge admirer of their work to date and am beyond excited about their vision for the company moving forwards.”

Temple Hill has been behind the likes of Smile and Twilight on the movie side, and Dave and The Other Black Girl on the TV side. It is taking Emilia Jones-starring romance Charlie Harper to TIFF.

Barantini and It’s All Made Up are represented by CAA, Untitled, Independent Talent Group, and JSSK.
