Savor | Communication Arts

Responses by Resn.

Background: Savor has pioneered a new way to create fats from scratch, bypassing conventional agriculture and its heavy environmental cost. It’s an amazing breakthrough and marks the first time products like this have reached the market. That presented a number of challenges, not least of which was explaining these revolutionary ingredients and the purpose behind them. The site also needed to position Savor as the clear leader in a new food category while setting the standard for future food innovation. With an audience ranging from Michelin-starred chefs and global food producers to partners, investors and everyday consumers, the platform had to feel visionary yet grounded, balancing science with emotion to establish Savor as a trusted leader in the future of food.

Design core: The site’s core features revolve around informative storytelling layered across a tactile digital experience. A visual system of warm, creamy colors and organic motifs supports the gorgeous macro photography throughout the site. The fluid motion design and elegant typography help celebrate the science behind Savor’s process, while the intuitive navigation and modular content structure ensure the storytelling adapts to different audiences without overloading them with too much information. Everything works together to reinforce the sensory experience of delicious foods made from real fat.

Challenges: Creating a brand and digital platform that communicated cutting-edge science without alienating audiences with too much complexity. We had to position Savor as innovative and authoritative on one hand while keeping the story inviting and approachable on the other. It was a delicate balance to strike, but ultimately, it enabled the brand to convey technological innovation without losing its human warmth.

Navigation structure: We designed the navigation to be intuitive and modular, guiding users through layers of storytelling at their own pace. The structure supports a diverse audience journey, letting users find the most relevant content quickly; the information most relevant to a potential investor will be different than what a global food producer is interested in. The aim was clarity without complexity, making exploration feel natural and rewarding.

Technology: The site was built with a scalable framework paired with Sanity, a headless CMS for flexible content management. Custom animation and motion design were central to the experience, with GSAP driving most animations and timelines and SplitText enabling letter-by-letter text reveals. The explanatory diagrams were created using Rive, while WebGL powered the immersive logo effects in the menu and footer, as well as the bubble transitions between page sections. To keep the performance high, we used TWGL, a minimal WebGL library, along with custom fragment shaders. Finally, Lenis allowed us to deliver smooth, fluid scrolling that tied the entire experience together.
